Fishing on foot

Is there anything more fun than taking a family fishing trip in the morning, bucket in hand and small knife in pocket, then coming home and sitting down together to enjoy the catch? Here are our tips for a safe and successful outing.

Live

Come on a whim!

Mussels, shrimps, crabs…

Pride in your catch

The Normandy coastline is the place to be during spring tides. Between the valleys of Varengeville-sur-Mer and the rocks of Pourville-sur-Mer, it’s become a tradition. It’s a place where families with children and friends gather to share a fishing trip and enjoy the sea air.
The sea retreats to reveal a vast expanse of sand, dotted with rocks, on or under whichyou’ll find what you’re looking for.

So that the pleasure remains sustainable

Fishing is free, but regulations must be respected to preserve the natural environment and ensure that this pleasure remains accessible to all for a long time to come.
Don’t worry, there’s plenty to enjoy: the maximum quantity of shellfishper person and per trip is 5 liters. The best way to keep to these limits is to take a small ruler with you.

Your étrilles should measure no less than 6.5 cm and your mussels no more than 4 cm. As for the bouquet, shrimp must measure at least 5 cm. For shrimp, fishing is authorized from the last Saturday in June to January 31 of the following year. Ready to get out your shovels and hit the beach?

Caution, vigilance…

and respect for nature

Check the weather (don’t set off in fog or thunderstorms) and the tide times. Go up as soon as it’s low tide.

Above all, don’t drive at the foot of the cliffs – stay more than 100 metres away. There’s a landslide every week.

Adapt your equipment. Always wear shoes. Whitefish hide in the sand and rock is slippery.

Take a watch and a cell phone and check the local network. The emergency number is 196.

Respect the environment. Put back the stones you return. Respect regulatory sizes and quantities.
