Vasterival beach

Secret nugget
Enjoy nature...

This small beach is located between Varengeville-sur-Mer and Sainte-Marguerite-sur-Mer.

Access can be a little tricky, but once you’re there, you’ll discover a beautiful and very quiet landscape

Venture

on a hidden, peaceful beach

To get there, you’ll take a path and descend a grand staircase. This path crosses a large natural opening in the cliff, which we call a valleuse*. Pay close attention to your surroundings – it’s time to use all your senses!

Once at the bottom, you’ll discover a breathtaking view, at the foot of immense cliffs. The beach is pebbled, and at low tide you’ll see chalky white rocks covered with green algae on the sand.

When the sun shines, the sea sparkles and offers a spectacle of varied blues. This beach is often quiet, with few visitors, making it the perfect place to enjoy a moment of calm and beauty.

Advice from the Tourist Office

Fishing on foot or mussel fishing is great fun on this beach. Look at the calendar to choose a high tide day and start early in the morning. That’s the best time!

Be sure to observe the fishing rules. This helps to protect the fauna* and flora, so that future generations can also enjoy this pleasure…

When you get back home or to your gîte, get out your pots and a good bottle of white wine to enjoy the shellfish you’ve caught!

The valley is sometimes inaccessible due tofalling cliffs: check with the Tourist Office before travelling.

Dogs on a leash are allowed on this beach all year round.

Please be vigilant, as swimming is not supervised by lifeguards.

Saint-Valéry church and marine cemetery

A famous panorama

This church is built right on the edge of the cliff. You may already have heard of it! In the surrounding cemetery, theartist Georges Braque is buried. In fact, he created one of the church’s stained-glass windows.

The view from here is breathtaking. It was immortalized by painter ClaudeMonet in one of his paintings. Not to be missed!
