The beaches of Petit-Caux

Oasis of tranquility
Unspoilt nature

Located between Dieppe and Le Tréport, the commune of Petit-Caux has several neighboring beaches: Saint-Martin-en-Campagne, Berneval-le-Grand and Belleville-sur-Mer.

Popular with nature lovers, they offer an exceptional setting where stretches of sand and majestic cliffs blend harmoniously.

More like sea bathing,

fishing or leisure?

The beaches of Petit-Caux are distinguished by their large expanse of sand, visible at low tide. In fact, there are fewer pebbles here than on the surrounding beaches. This makes them a favorite spot for windsurfers, kite surfers and other water sports enthusiasts.

Swimmers appreciate this quiet, accessible spot, while anglers take advantage of the rocks to collect shells and bouquets.

At the top of the cliffs, the meadows are home to several species ofwild orchid. The coastal area around the Berneval valley has also been designated a Natura 2000 site.

Advice from the Tourist Office

“This beach is one of my favorites, especially for its tranquility and wildness.

I love going there at sunset, when the golden light gently illuminates the cliffs. If you love nature and wide open spaces, this is a place not to be missed.”

Practicalities

A large parking lot is located on Place Duparchy, for easy access to the beach on the St-Martin/Berneval side. On the Belleville side, there is also a parking lot upstream of the valley.

In July and August, firefighters patrol the swimming area on the St-Martin side, from 11am to 7pm.

Dogs on a leash are permitted on these beaches all year round.

Beware of rockslides. It is forbidden to walk too close to the edge of the cliffs.

The Val au Prêtre valley

Wild corner

This small, steep-sided valley offers unique access to the sea, bordered by verdant cliffs and typical Cauchois ravine flora.

Augustine Renoir is said to have painted her picture “Moisson à Berneval” (1880) from the fields overlooking the valley.

This passage is the climax of a lovely hike of just three kilometers.
