DIEPPE INTERNATIONAL KITE FESTIVAL

Permanent and unusual events

A breath of imagination in every corner of the village
Here, everything is a pretext for poetry... and surprise

As well as kites, exhibitions and concerts, the festival is packed with unusual installations, offbeat moments and unexpected interludes that make every visit unique. Stroll around, observe, take part: amazement is everywhere.

🎐 What you’ll come across at the turn of a breeze…

🐄 The Wind Farm

A rather special meadow has sprung up on the seafront lawns… You’ll see flying cows, whistling geese and other funny inflatable beasts, brought to life by the wind. It’s a wacky, poetic world to discover with the whole family.

📩 The Participatory Greeting Net

How about taking your thoughts on a journey? Throughout the festival, hang your wish, message or drawing on the large net set up in the village. Little by little, it will fill up with the words and dreams of all the visitors.
At the end of the festival, it will rise into the sky, carrying with it a collective breath of emotion and hope.

⏳ The Random Clock & the Zulu Bank

Tinkering artist and poet of the wind, Pierre Bourquin is exhibiting two installations that are as crazy as they are mischievous:

⏳ L’Horloge aléatoire
This strange clock, linked to a wind turbine, tells the time according to the strength of the wind. When it blows hard, the minutes fly by at full speed; when it weakens, time slows down… or even stops. A fun way to remember that time is always relative, especially during the festival.

💸 The Zulu Bank – wind money
No euros here, but a pétanque ball, a punch and a bit of breath! The value of the currency depends directly on the wind: the windier it is, the more you earn… provided there’s “pétole” (kite-flying term for “no wind”), in which case you get nothing!

🦀 Plastic Bestiaire

In the form of a giant crab, this participatory work created with SMEDAR by Pascal Garret gives plastic waste a second life. A committed, light-hearted and humorous installation, brought to life by funny wind gardeners.

🎵 Wargasound – The collective that sets the mood!

Musicians playing in the middle of the crowd, passers-by becoming singers or percussionists for a tune… Every weekend, Wargasound invites you out onto the lawns to enjoy some festive, unexpected and participatory music.

☕ L’Arôme des Vents – The coffee shop made in Dieppe

Right next to the Pavillon Aérophotographie, take a seat at L’Arôme des Vents, the ephemeral café dreamed up with Nescafé Dieppe. Gourmet break, sea view terrace, festival atmosphere guaranteed!

🎨 A festival that can also be seen on the ground

The festival aisles are adorned with Balinese banners, colourful mobiles and floating objects designed by the Kosmodul’Air collective. It’s a joyful, light-hearted display that makes shapes and colours dance to the rhythm of the wind.

On the walls, XXL textile frescoes by the Eolia Concept group, made by Michel Boucard, undulate like waves of fabric: a living décor that changes as the festival progresses.
