A journey through the history of wind

The Pavillon Historique is a must for anyone who likes to understand the world by looking back. Here, the kite becomes a living testimony to cultures, sciences, beliefs… and human creativity through the centuries.

📜 What you’ll discover in this pavilion:

🏛️ A rare collection of ancient and contemporary kites.

You’ll be able to admire models from Oceania, Asia, Europe andAmerica: ritual, military, meteorological, scientific and decorative kites… But there are also replicas and contemporary creations that dialogue with the past.

🧠 Fascinating stories

The kite is presented in all its wealth of uses:

Celestial fishing net in Melanesia
Messenger of the gods in Asia
Scientific instrument for Benjamin Franklin
Symbol of artistic and political freedom in the 20th century

✍️ Visionary designers in the spotlight

The pavilion pays tribute to pioneers like Robert Devautour and André Cassagnes, but also to young designers like Lorenzo Malloni, who are imagining the kites of tomorrow using new materials and shapes.
