Breathtaking shows in the sky

When art takes to the skies

Every day, the skies over Dieppe are transformed into a huge aerial stage. Giant, colourful and inventive kites take to the skies in a spectacular and poetic ballet, giving rhythm to the festival as the wind blows.

🎭 Take to the skies in style

The seafront becomes a veritable open-air theatre with, on the programme:

🌀 Every morning weather permitting: majestic flights of bowls and crowns – those large, spinning circular structures, as hypnotic as they are imposing.
🪁 Every afternoon (2pm-5pm): commented flights of asymmetric kites, choreographed ground displays, collective demonstrations… with a flexible programme depending on the weather.

🌬️ Wind artists from all over the world:

400 kite flyers are expected, including 200 officials representing 28 countries: Belgium, Canada, China, Colombia, Denmark, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Pakistan, Poland, Russia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tasmania, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom, USA, Vietnam.

Highlights include:

🎐 Giant Indonesian puppets
🐉 Asian dragon kites (up to 100m long!)
⛵ Kite boats and drakkars
🌌 Luminous kites for night flying (Sat. 20 September at 10pm)

On the first weekend, don’t miss the meticulous shows by :

Start’Air (France): three-time 2-line world champion
Flying Squad (United Kingdom): the international benchmark for 4-line kites
Cerf-Volant Folie (Normandy): 9 to 12 pilots flying simultaneously!
Team One Shot: an elite group of French kite pilots
Giovanni Govoni (Italy): capable of flying 3 kites on one go

🐟 Kite fishing

Atraditional Melanesiantechnique, kite fishing will be demonstrated on the seafront, depending on the tides. Lures attached to the tails of the kites will skim the water to hook the fish, in a ballet between sky and sea.

🎏 Combat kites

In friendly matches, these aerial duels where the aim is to slice through the opposing line are as impressive as ever for their precision and dramatic tension.
