Festival Cerfs Volants Yann Pelcat 2 1
The Festival Village, located on the seafront lawns, is open every day from 9am to 7pm. It’s made up of several themed pavilions where young and old alike can discover, learn, contemplate and create.
Every day, the sky becomes a stage for a show! Flights of giant bowls, commented choreographies, precision figures, giant kites, dragons, puppets… Demonstrations punctuate the days of the festival, with highlights throughout the week.
⚠️ It is not possible to give a precise programme in advance: each flight depends on the wind. To make the most of the show, take the time to walk around, watch and listen to the commentary on the microphone in area 4, where the performances and weather conditions are explained live.
Chinese dragons, kinetic kites, mythological Indonesian puppets, Thai vibrators… Don’t miss the simultaneous flight of 10 dragons, a European record!
Discover the works of two international artists:
A plunge into theaesthetics of imbalance and lightness.
Les Yeux du Vent exhibition: 40 spectacular aerial photos captured by kite. Introduction to aerial photography workshop: take to the skies with your smartphone!
A journey through the history of the kite, between traditions, scientific uses and ancient or contemporarymasterpieces. With the participation of collectors, craftsmen and enthusiasts.
7 creative workshops open to schoolchildren during the week and to families at weekends. Make kites, windmills, flying objects, aerial photography… Every child goes home with their own creation!
Meet the kite flyers at work, watch their creations in progress, chat with them. This is also where the Creative Competition on the theme Asymmetrical Balance takes place on the 2nd weekend.
Between flights, let yourself be surprised by the poetic installations, strange creatures, strolling musicians, and even a clock dictated by the wind!
Offered by the associations D’Lire and Lire et Faire Lire, with theexhibition “Un ciel, un monde” on the uses and symbolism of the kite in cultures around the world.
