The nourishing water of Varengeville-sur-Mer is at the heart of Raphaëlle Peria?s work, which pays homage to the inexhaustible sources of inspiration in the lands of Impressionism through her etched photographs, engraved gold leaf, ceramics and drawings. There are no rivers in this village immortalized by Monet. Yet water is everywhere. It seeps into the rock, circulates beneath our feet and cuts into the cliffs, creating valleys.

It is this omnipresence of water that Raphaëlle Peria tackles with this new body of work, which invites us to question water as a source of life, vegetation and light, but also the destructive water that nibbles away at landscapes and alters our memories of places. The artist?s scratching gesture takes us back to the erosion of these lands, and several monumental works plunge us life-size into the heart of this process.

This exhibition is organized as part of the Normandie Impressionniste 2024 festival and in collaboration with the Bullukian Foundation.
