The late 19th and early 20th centuries were a period of upheaval in terms of women's participation in sporting activities. Dieppe, a port and seaside town open to foreign influences, particularly English, saw the emergence and development of a variety of women?s sporting activities, including fencing, lawn tennis and badminton.
