[Cirque] Huellas

Watching archaeologists in search of 80,000-year-old Neanderthal footprints and handprints, Compagnie Hold-Up & Co drew inspiration from these impressions to seek out "raw" movement, linked to necessity. The physical abilities of the Neanderthal hunter/gatherer, accustomed to living in an undomesticated wilderness, approach those of the acrobat. An archaeologist studies the cutting of a tree with a replica of the tool he discovered, hoping to catch a glimpse of an ancestral way of standing and moving. Acrobatics serves as a bridge to touch our roots, to grasp their essence, to rediscover our true place in this long human inter-species history.
Huellas is a physical journey, a journey through time. And perhaps a way of looking to the future with greater serenity.
