Puys Beach

A friendly little beach

Far from the madding crowd

If you enjoy taking a dip in the ocean, you’re in the right place, because there’s nothing but beach here, no more, no less. All generations rub shoulders here, and some even like to keep mum about this peaceful swimming hole, far from the daily grind…

Dieppe’s other beach

You will pass through a pretty hamlet with beautiful buildings before reaching Puys Beach. Nested in the hollows of the cliffs of the Alabaster Coast, this small cove doesn’t look like much, and yet… It is primarily used by the town’s residents. Pensioners go there every day to tan in the sun, and teens meet on the pebbles before taking a dip, while small children play around on the rocks, looking for small crabs and shellfish. Some families bring their paddleboards or canoes with them.

Here you will find a mix of generations, making the beach even more charming and pleasant. Located just a few kilometres from the centre of Dieppe, it is a chance to be close to shops and activities whilst enjoying the peace and quiet of the coast. But shhhh! Don’t talk about it too much, because the locals are possessive of their secret…

Tips from the Tourist Office

I recommend heading down to the beach on foot or by bicycle. On the one hand, this means you don’t have to waste time looking for one of the rare parking spaces available.

On the other hand, it gives you the chance to see part of the GR21 national hiking trail with its stunning views of the sea. At a bend in the path, you may even come across L’Atelier By B.Nat, a recycling centre and studio which repurposes ancient objects and furniture.

Practical information

During the summer season, the beach is monitored by lifeguards, and Tiralo beach chairs are available to people with reduced mobility.

It is Blue Flag certified, in recognition of the municipality’s commitment to sustainability, ensuring their tourist activities are environmentally friendly.

Dogs on leads are allowed on the beach, outside the summer period (15 June to 15 September).

Wander by candlelight

Les chandelles musicales

Participate in this enchanting event on a warm August evening. All the street lights will be off. Instead, more than 2,000 candles will be set up all around the hamlet. Bands will perform all over, along the paths and on the beach. The bucolic charm of this seaside village does the rest. A delightful summer interlude…
